What is Filter Molding?
It’s a plastic injection molding process where plastic is injected into a mold cavity containing one or more filter pieces made of another material type. The activity works by directing molten plastic into the cavity through an opening, generating a final product comprised of a durable plastic exterior and exposed filter surface.
The amount of insert material encapsulated by the plastic depends on the design of the cavity or tooling. Filters can be wholly or partially covered, and there’s no limit to the size of the filter pores or openings that can be encapsulated. Filter molding offers a variety of advantages.
